Add ingredients by weight in proportions of:
8 plain white flour
Add 1 tsp baking powder / 100 g (4 oz) flour
Mix in enough milk to make a soft mixture. Add chopped fruit, syrup etc. to taste.
Steam for 2 hr with greaseproof paper & cloth over the bowl, or heat for app 10 min at full power in a microwave oven.
Put some golden syrup in the bowl before you add the mixture.
Add a handful of dried fruit / raisins / chopped dates to the mixture.
